Hot oil! Have you accounted for thermal growth?

Thermal growth? We are aligning to recommended tolerances from the OEM for the coupling.

You are aligning to Coupling OEM tolerances? That is your first problem. These give the maximum and are no where near precision alignment. Alignment should be conducted to industry best practice and comply fully with API 686 – Machinery Installation.

Thermal growth is common on machines that operate at high temperatures. In my history, a difference in temperature between the driver and driven operating temperatures of 30°C requires the thermal growth target to be input. What does you hot oil pump operate at? 150-180°C?

The pump operates at 220°C in steady state. We have never accounted for thermal growth. What is the best process to do such a thing?
